Monroe County Community Foundation accepting applications Aug. 1 through Sept. 12<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

WOODSFIELD, Ohio \u2013 The Monroe County Community Foundation (MCCF) in partnership with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) is accepting grant applications from nonprofits, schools and public organizations for projects and programs benefiting Monroe County residents and communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2023 application period for grant funding opens Aug. 1 and closes Sept. 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MCCF and FAO\u2019s I\u2019m a Child of Appalachia\u00ae Fund will award grants across five areas essential to creating and sustaining transformative change: arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human services. Emphasis is on supporting individuals of all ages who are spearheading projects and programs that create opportunities, meet pressing needs and unleash the potential within Monroe County. Applications that support youth-led projects are encouraged as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEarnings from charitable giving to MCCF are reinvested in Monroe County through annual grants that meet the county\u2019s greatest needs and seize its most promising opportunities,\u201d said Alyssa Stephens, MCCF committee member and community development program coordinator with the Ohio State University Extension\u2019s Monroe County office. \u201cIn fall 2022, MCCF and FAO awarded eight grants, totaling nearly $15,000, to organizations serving Monroe County.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
