Seven Lawrence County students receive scholarships<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

IRONTON, Ohio \u2013 The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) has awarded more than $593,000 in donor-established postsecondary scholarships to students across Appalachian Ohio, including seven students from Lawrence County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bob Evans and Wayne F. White Legacy Scholarship, honoring the legacy and commitment these two friends had to the Appalachian Ohio region, was awarded to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 Mikayla Bolden, a graduate of South Point High School<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 Lydia Freeman, a graduate of Ironton High School<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 Olivia Lunsford, a graduate of Symmes Valley High School<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 Hannah McKenzie, a graduate of South Point High School<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 Lenux Paden, a graduate of Chesapeake High School<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two Lawrence County students received the Dr. Karen LaRoe Scholarship, a four-year award to support female graduates of Symmes Valley High School who are continuing their education. They are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 Jocelyn Carpenter<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FAO partners with donors, volunteers and affiliate foundations, including the Lawrence County Community Foundation, to award scholarships through a competitive application process to students across the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To date this year, FAO has awarded nearly 600 postsecondary scholarships, totaling more than $593,000, to 337 students thanks to gifts from residents and friends of Appalachian Ohio who recognize the role education can play in the future success of both young adults and the region\u2019s communities.
