Nearly $27,000 awarded to advance 12 projects and programs
JACKSON, Ohio – The Jackson County Community Foundation (JCCF), with the support of its donors and in partnership with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), has awarded $26,943 during its 2026 grant round to advance 12 projects and programs benefiting the county’s residents and communities.
“These grants reflect the generosity of donors who believe in Jackson County and the dedication of local organizations that turn that generosity into action,” said Brianna Jenkins, JCCF committee member. “From expanding access to mental health services and food assistance to supporting our youth and seniors, this funding will make a meaningful difference in the lives of many Jackson County residents.”
Nonprofits, schools and public organizations serving Jackson County were invited to apply for grants – made possible by gifts to JCCF’s endowment fund – to advance opportunities across five areas essential to flourishing communities: arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human services. Emphasis is on supporting individuals of all ages who are spearheading projects and programs that create opportunities, meet pressing needs and unleash the potential within Jackson County.
The 2026 grant recipients are:
- Integrated Services for Behavioral Health to fund therapeutic activities and supplies for youth and adult therapy groups in Jackson County
- Jackson Area Festivals and Events received two grants: (1) to support its food giveaways and (2) to support its AppleKids program, which provides food assistance to Jackson City Schools elementary students
- Jackson County Board on Aging to purchase an automated external defibrillator (AED) for one of its facilities
- Jackson County Dog Pound to help provide Lyme and other disease testing, as well as antibiotics if needed, for low-income Jackson County households
- Jackson-Vinton Farm Bureau to purchase educational materials for students attending the 2027 Agriculture Experience Day
- Monarch: Wings of Kyla Foundation to help provide food assistance, mental health support, crisis intervention and wellness resources to underserved Jackson County individuals and families
- National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Southern Ohio to support mental health education and suicide prevention programs in all three school district areas in Jackson County
- Oak Hill Historical Society to build and help stock with food a second blessing box in the village of Oak Hill
- The Salvation Army-Logan Service Unit to purchase hygiene items for the Bags of Hope distributed to Jackson County residents experiencing hardship
- Sojourners Care Network to provide resources that support Jackson County youth experiencing homelessness during their stay in a shelter and as they transition into permanent housing
- Southern Hills Arts Council to support the 2027 Movies at Manpower outdoor moving screenings in Jackson
JCCF, one of FAO’s 15 affiliate foundation partners, was established in 2012 to develop and grow permanent resources that provide continuous investment in Jackson County and its nonprofits, schools and communities. Each year, earnings from charitable giving to JCCF’s endowment fund are reinvested in Jackson County through grants that meet the county’s greatest needs and most promising opportunities.
