The grant will fund the purchase of advanced medical equipment, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A state-of-the-art thermoregulator for resuscitation, assessment and ongoing care<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An LED phototherapy system for the treatment of jaundice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A high-flow oxygen therapy system for respiratory support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to new equipment, the funding will support two pilot programs focused on newborn health and safety. Every family delivering at the center will receive a safe sleep sack, accompanied by education on safe sleep practices. Families experiencing financial hardship will also receive a car seat to ensure their newborn\u2019s safety after discharge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOhioHealth and our care teams are deeply committed to providing the highest standard of maternal and newborn care,\u201d said Wendy Elliott, president of OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center. \u201cThis funding enhances our ability to deliver exceptional care to our community\u2019s newest members, support families close to home and extend that support beyond the hospital stay.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Established in 2023, the Southeast Ohio Health and Wellness Foundation Fund supports health and wellness activities in the OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center\u2019s service area through grants, scholarships and fellowships. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a privilege to invest in health and wellness initiatives in our region and support the providers who care for our communities,\u201d said Matt Elli, chair of the Southeast Ohio Health and Wellness Foundation Fund. \u201cBy giving newborns and families a healthy start, we are laying the foundation for stronger, healthier communities across Southeast Ohio.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Grant to fund advanced medical equipment, two pilot programs at Childbirth Center CAMBRIDGE, Ohio \u2013 The Southeast Ohio Health and Wellness Foundation Fund at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio has awarded a grant to help launch a newborn health initiative at the OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center\u2019s Childbirth Center.
