{"id":201,"date":"2022-12-20T12:34:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-20T12:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/faomulti.wpenginepowered.com\/guernsey\/?p=201"},"modified":"2024-08-26T12:51:56","modified_gmt":"2024-08-26T12:51:56","slug":"guernsey-county-foundation-awards-16-grants-benefiting-residents-communities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/appalachianohio.org\/guernsey\/2022\/12\/20\/guernsey-county-foundation-awards-16-grants-benefiting-residents-communities\/","title":{"rendered":"Guernsey County Foundation awards 16 grants benefiting residents, communities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><em>More than $31,000 in funding to support nonprofit and public projects, programs<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CAMBRIDGE, Ohio \u2013 The Guernsey County Foundation has awarded 16 grants, totaling more than $31,000, to advance projects and programs serving individuals throughout Guernsey County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe awarding of these grants is the highlight of our year and represents the generosity and love so many have for the people of Guernsey County,\u201d said Jeremy Morrow, Guernsey County Foundation committee member. \u201cWe are eager to see the fruits of this funding manifest over the coming year \u2013 our foundation\u2019s 35th anniversary \u2013 and for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier this year, the Guernsey County Foundation, in partnership with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio and FAO\u2019s I\u2019m a Child of Appalachia\u00ae Fund, invited nonprofit and public organizations to apply for grants for projects and programs benefiting Guernsey County residents. Preference was given to efforts that increase quality of life, create access to opportunities or implement a solution to a local need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sixteen grants were awarded during the 2022 funding cycle:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 American Red Cross of East Central Ohio for the purchase of smoke detectors to be installed in area homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 Buckeye Trail Preschool for the purchase of iPads to incorporate technology into the program\u2019s curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 Cambridge Area YMCA Family Center to help purchase new equipment for its growing Gymnastics Team Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 Cambridge City Schools to help create libraries and foster reading enjoyment and enrichment in K-5 classrooms throughout the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 Cambridge Intermediate School to help create an afterschool STEM Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 Children\u2019s Advocacy Center of Guernsey County to help rebuild staffing and provide trauma-informed services to children who have experienced sexual and physical abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 Dickens Victorian Village to help fund the installation of permanent signage and an awning at the welcome center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 East Central Ohio Educational Service Center to support its annual Guernsey County Reading Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry to fund the processing of deer, anticipated to feed at least 1,400 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 Girl Scouts of Ohio\u2019s Heartland Council to provide meaningful Girl Scout experiences to more underserved K-8 girls in Guernsey County through its Community Outreach Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center\u2019s Meals on Wheels program to fund materials for its annual \u201cShare the Love\u201d project, which provides baked goods to the county\u2019s senior citizens during the holiday season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 Haven of Hope to help fund the completion and furnishing of its new administrative office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 Living Word Outdoor Drama Inc. to help purchase new microphones\/headsets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 Salvation Army to help purchase instruments for a new Youth Music and Band Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 Society of St. Vincent De Paul Christ Our Light Conference to help provide transportation and housing assistance to those who are seeking employment or at risk of losing employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 United Way of Guernsey, Monroe and Noble Counties to support its Tiny Book &amp; Blessing Box, which will be stocked with children\u2019s books and non-perishable food items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Donations to the Guernsey County Foundation help fund these annual grants that meet communities\u2019 greatest needs and most promising opportunities.
