About Paul Knopp
The Paul Knoop Conservation Education Fund recognizes and honors Paul Knoop, a highly respected Ohio naturalist who dedicated his career to environmental education – with an emphasis on teaching children the values of the natural world. A former director and founding member of AOA, Paul also served as naturalist at Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm in Dayton, Ohio, for more than three decades and was its director for many years.
A resident of the Hocking Hills, Paul and his wife, Cathy, continue to provide environmental educational opportunities in conjunction with several organizations. Paul’s commitment to learning and understanding the natural world and freely sharing his time and knowledge with others exemplifies AOA’s commitment to voluntary community service through conservation and education.
The Appalachia Ohio Alliance (AOA) established the Paul Knoop Conservation Education Fund, a permanent endowment fund to support AOA’s vision of conservation and stewardship of our land and water as sustainable natural resources, in 2012 – AOA’s 10th anniversary year.
The Paul Knoop Conservation Education Fund is helping AOA make a lasting impact in the region as a catalyst for local conservation as well as community consciousness and participation. Proceeds from the fund provide valuable fiscal resources to further the conservation and educational work of AOA, whose success depends on generous donations from those who desire to make a difference in their community.

Gifts to the Paul Knoop Conservation Education Fund are tax-deductible and can be made in many ways, including cash, bequests, stock, real estate, royalties, insurance beneficiaries and qualified charitable distributions from IRAs.
